DETAILS
Mata Hari (Katarina Madirazza) is preparing for her first dance performance in a dressing room at the Musée Guimet in Paris. Her maid Anna Lintjens (Stephanie Lexer) helps her transform from a European lady into an Indian princess. Monsieur Noir (Nico Birnbaum), a skeptical journalist, interferes with her plans and she soon realizes a lot is at stake, should she actually dance.
Margaretha Geertruida Zelle was a courageous Dutch woman, who neglected the social constraints of her time. After losing nearly everything in her life she created the persona "Mata Hari", an Indian princess who revolutionized the image of the female body as a semi-nude dancer.
